What is Venda?

Venda is a new cash-free ticket vending system in the regions of Chur, Davos and Upper Engadine, as well as on various Postbus routes throughout the canton of Graubünden. New VendaAutomat machines replace existing machines on buses and at bus stops/RhB stations in these regions. From now on, you can also buy your e-ticket directly at the most frequented Chur Bus stops.

What is the reason behind having a new system?

ChipCard/EASYDRIVE terminals have to be replaced as they have reached, after 25 years of their operation, the end of their useful life. This is why Venda, Graubünden's new ticket vending system, is being rolled out in the three regions where these terminals were in use. With Venda, a more contemporary and customer-friendly replacement has been found.

Can I pay in cash for tickets when buying them from bus drivers?

No. You can pay in cash for VendaPrepaid cards bought from bus drivers. You can use this disposable prepaid bearer card worth CHF 10 or CHF 20 to buy your ticket from a VendaAutomat machine. You can still buy your ticket online, via an app (sbb.ch, ÖV-Plus, Fairtiq), at a ticket counter or from a ticket vending machine.

Is the ticket personal?

The VendaProfit discount is linked to a specific SwissPass cardholder and can only be bought from VendaAutomat machines.

How can I buy a ticket for someone else if I am not going to travel with him or her?

You can use the usual ticket selling channels such as ticket counters and RhB/PostBus ticket vending machines. In addition, you can buy a VendaPrepaid card on the bus and use it to pay for a ticket bought directly from a VendaAutomat machine. Tickets can also be pre-purchased from VendaAutomat machines at bus stops. The passenger needs to be in possession of a carrier card (e.g., a child can travel with his or her own SwissPass and the parents pay for his or her ticket with a credit card when buying it from the VendaAutomat machine at a bus stop).

I am the holder of a discount travelcard issued to the staff. How can I buy additional tickets, e.g., for my dog?

The SwissPass is available to everyone, being the easiest way to obtain a ticket. If you activate the payment function on your SwissPass, you can use it as a (carrier) card: Select the ticket for your dog at the VendaAutomat machine under "Continue without SwissPass" and pay with your SwissPass. The ticket, e.g., for your dog, is stored on the SwissPass.

If you have no SwissPass, you can pay for your ticket at any VendaAutomat machine using your payment method (credit/debit or VendaPrepaid card). The ticket will be stored on your payment card. You can also buy your dog pass, as before, via the existing channels (app).

Why do only SwissPass cards of the latest generation work?

The new SwissPass is provided with contactless payment technology (EMV). You can store your tickets on this card, and also make payments with it. It is also possible to store the ticket on your ‘old’ SwissPass card. In this case, payment is made by credit or debit card or via TWINT.

The abbreviation stands for Europay International, MasterCard and VISA.

EMV is a standardised and contactless transmission method to be used between a payment card and a payment terminal. What is the advantage of the SwissPass being provided with such an applet?

Payments made using the SwissPass are standardised and protected against fraud. Payments are processed within the MasterCard network. This means that the SwissPass is accepted wherever MasterCard cards are in use today, without any technical modifications to payment terminals having to be made. As a result, new points of acceptance can be added easily and without having to make any technical adjustment whatsoever.
